BRIEF HISTORY OF HOLME PATENT A/S

Edvard Holme, the founder of Holme Patent A/S, looks back at a decade-spanning career as mechanical engineer, inventor, and mastermind behind various creative and technological breakthroughs.

Back in 1962, the Danish Society of Engineers honored Edvard Holme with the Inventor Award for the development of a stepless gear. In the years that followed, various other inventions resulted in new products or methods. Being at that time a technical manager of factory on the Danish island of Fyn, Edvard Holme contributed significantly to streamlining operational procedures and manufacturing.

The close contact to innovative minds combined with his pursuit of new challenges in development and creativity, eventually drew Edvard Holme to the IP sector. For several years he worked as a patent attorney at an IP firm in Copenhagen, before founding Holme Patent A/S in 1994.

The firm expanded rapidly, the increasing demand for office space leading to a first relocation already within its first year of existence. An ever increasing client base necessitated the employment of additional consultants and administrative staff giving rise to a second relocation in 1998, when Holme Patent A/S moved to its current premises located in the heart of Copenhagen.

In 2005, Holme Patent A/S established a branch in Aarhus enabling us today to service our Danish and foreign clients in the capitol area as well as on the Danish mainland.

September 1, 2022 Annelise Holme took over as CEO of Holme Patent A/S after Marianne Holme.
